Installing A Drop-In K&N Filter

Skill Level Step-By-Step Instructions
Easy
  1. Unscrew the top of the air filter box where the current air filter is (you will know if its the right 'box' or not because there will be a corrugated tube going into it).  The air filter box is located directly above the battery on both the 2.2L and 2.4L models.
  2. Remove the old air filter.  Oil the new filter with the K&N oil kit (sold separately for about $10) unless it is pre-oiled (even if it is, its not a bad idea to oil it again, as the filter may have been sitting for quite some time).
  3. If you have to oil your filter yourself, simply spray the entire surface with the special oil, and let it dry about for 15 min.  If you aren't sure if the filter is already oiled, you can usually tell by the colour.  If the filter is red, then it is probably pre-oiled.  If it's white, then it needs oil.
  4. After the filter has dried for ~15 mins, put it in and and screw the filter box shut.  You're ready to go.
