Note: The 1995-1997 2.2L models DO NOT have a tuner tube, so don't bother looking! Only the "2200" series engines have a tuner tube (1998-2000 models).
- Open the hood and find the black corrugated tube. This tube goes from
the back of the engine to the airbox, located on the driver's side of
the car in front of the strut tower.
-
Disconnect the throttle cable. To do this, simply pry up on the end of it
with the slot screwdriver.
Also, disconnect the IAT sensor.
Unscrew the clamp that holds the corrugated tube to the air
expansion box. Hold the corrugated tube out of the way (if you want,
you can disconnect it from the airbox as well).
Notice the Tuner Tube. It's a small tube about 2.5" in
diameter and 6" in length that's inserted into the air expansion box.
Pry the edge of the Tuner Tube until it comes out. Simply
pull it all the way out, and use it as a penholder.
Reinstall the
corrugated
tube, reattach the throttle cable and IAT sensor, and re-tighten clamp. You're
done.
