Removing The Rear Seats - 3rd Gen J-Body

Skill Level Step-By-Step Instructions
Easy Seat Back Removal/Reinstallation
  1. Remove Seat Belt from child adjustors, if applicable.
  2. Pull back of rear seat to a 45 degree angle.  Seat will release to the right.  All you have to do is push firmly to the right, while pulling lower left corner of off the rod sticking out, about 1.5".
  3. Install in reverse order, right side rod first, then sliding over left side rod.

Seat Bottom Removal

  1. 1. Hold seat bottom front on both sides, about 8-10" from sides.
  2. Lift seat. Pull forward.

Seat Bottom Reinstallation

  1. Look where seat bottom attached - there will be 2 holes in the floor.  It is likely that there will be a black clip left in each of these holes.
  2. Being VERY CAREFUL to note how they come out, remove each clip, and reattach to seat.  It is easiest to do one at a time, so if you drop the clip, or whatever, it is easy to reorient the clip based on the position of the other one.
  3. Clips, after being replace on seat bottom, will need to POP back into the holes.  Place seat bottom in place, pulling seat belts through the slots.  While pushing seat bottom back, push the clips back into the hole.
  4. Use some downward force to lock the clips in place, and you are all done.
