Painting The Honeycomb Grills

Skill Level Step-By-Step Instructions
Easy
  1. Remove the grills.  They are held in by a single small torx screw.

  2. Thoroughly clean the grills using soap and water, and a toothbrush if necessary.

  3. Dip the grills in alcohol for a final cleaning, and place them on the surface that you plan to paint them on.  I placed the grills on a cement floor, with half-inch wooden doweling lifting them slightly off the floor, to keep them from sticking.

  4. Apply several light coats of the paint of your choice to the grills, using light, overlapping strokes.  I painted the back of the grills first, allowed them to dry for several hours, and then flipped them over and painted the fronts.

  5. After painting, allow the grills to dry overnight, and then apply several thick coats of clear coat, allowing the grills to dry until tacky between coats.

  6. Reinstall the grills.
